Barbara Ann Harper Puma, 79 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at Our Lady of the Lakes Hospital in Baton Rouge. She was born on Tuesday, December 17, 1940, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to William Ashley and Effie Mae Colbert Harper. Barbara enjoyed her life being a mother and grandmother. She loved singing and teaching her grandchildren songs. She loved going on long rides and eating out but loved to cook as well. She was a very loving and giving person.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Joseph William Puma, Sr. and his fiancée Debbie Monistere and Gaytano “Guy” J. Puma and his wife Debbie S. Puma. Her grandchildren, Brittany Puma Berseygay and her husband Chris, Trenton “Trent” Puma, Joseph William Puma, Jr. and his wife Amber, Guytano “Guy Paul” Puma, Mary Elizabeth Puma Holbrooks and her husband Wesley and Bethel Christian “Chrissy” Puma and numerous great-grandchildren. Her brother William R. “Bobby” Harper and his wife Fannie Harper and her sister Mary Harper Bardwell and her husband Vernon Harold Bardwell, also many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, William Ashley and Effie Mae Colbert Harper, her husband, Gaytano J. Puma, Sr. and her brother, Larry Ashley Harper.

A Visitation for Barbara will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continue Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Barbara's Life will immediately follow Tuesday’s visitation at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond.
