Bob Harold Allred, 78, a resident of Ponchatoula, La, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, La.  He was born February 14, 1939 in Brookhaven, Ms and at an early age his family moved to Slidell, La.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benton Morris Allred and his mother, Ruth Fauver Allred of Slidell, La.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Peggy Blount Allred; his sister Hilda Allred and her husband Roy Ageloff of Scottsdale, Az, his niece Shana Allred Ageloff Kupetz and her husband Joshua, their children, Edith and Oscar of Annarbor, Mi; his aunt and uncle Ruby Fauver Henderson and Dennis Fauver of Slidell, La; his sister-in-law Mary Lou Blount Harrington of Georgetown, Tx, her children Jason Harrington of Lago Vista, Tx, Janna Harrington Turner and husband Sean of Pflugerville, Tx, great-nieces Sophia and Olivia Harrington, great-nephew Jaxson Harrington; sister-in-law Ginny Blount Fern and her husband Gene of Georgetown, Tx and niece Ashley Fern of Dallas, Tx: and numerous cousins in Lincoln County, Ms.

Bob earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees and Master's plus 30 hours at Southeastern Louisiana University.  He taught at the Junior High level in St. Tammany Parish for 7 years before moving to the now-closed Perrin Junior High in Ponchatoula, La.  At Perrin Junior High he taught social studies and science for 10 years.  He was Assistant Principal for 10 years and retired in 1995 after serving 8 years as principal.  

He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa International Education Partnership, Louisiana Teachers Retirement Association and past member of the Strawberry Festival Board and the Ponchatoula Chamber of Commerce.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula.  A visitation will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 5:00 pm -8:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Ponchatoula and on the day of the memorial service beginning at 1:00 pm continuing until service time.  

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
