Carl Otis Speed went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 4, 2018.  He was the son of Luther and Lillie Speed of Chatawa, Mississippi.  Carl Otis was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Toni Grand Speed, his sons Wade Warren Speed, and Douglas Carl Speed.  He is survived by two daughters Teri Speed Cumpton, MD and Carla Speed McNeil, along with four grandchildren.  He is loved, cherished, and missed, by a multitude of family and friends.

Carl Otis was known for his story telling, his football coaching years, mentoring young people, but most of all for his love.  He gave it freely and generously.

Carl and Toni opened their home so often to others, they finally built an additional wing to their home.  Anyone and everyone could come.  And they did.

Carl Otis loved to Bar-B-Q, catching and frying fish, hunting (with one bullet tucked safely in his pocket) because he just wanted an excuse to be in the woods.  He loved spending time with his friends, children and grandchildren telling stories of his childhood walking uphill both ways to school.  He loved solving the world’s problems first thing in the morning with his great friends at Lee’s.

Carl Otis, we miss you.
