Carmelite Ragusa Crapanzano, 88 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.She was born on Wednesday, April 16, 1930, in Independence, Louisiana to  Joseph R. and Mamie E. Labruzza Ragusa. Carmelite enjoyed life and loved cooking and was considered by her family the most wonderful Italian cook, she also loved cleaning and being a caretaker, but she especially loved spending time with her family.

Carmelite is survived by her sons, Leroy "Lee" S. Crapanzano, Jr and his wife Mona, Terry Crapanzano and his wife Debby and Michael Crapanzano and his wife Kathy, her grandchildren, Kimberly Inman and her husband Craig, Rebecca Bartles and her husband Joel, Sarah Dore, Charles Dore, Taylor Ruckman and her husband Paul and Michael Lee Crapanzano and his fiancé Hannah Prevost, 11 great grandchildren, her brother, Michael R. Ragusa, and her sister in law, Nancy Ragusa, also many nieces, nephews and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph R. and Mamie E. Labruzza Ragusa, her husband, Leroy S. Crapanzano, Sr. and her brother, Louis Ragusa.

A Visitation for Carmelite will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond. A Funeral Mass Celebrating Carmelite's Life will immediately follow visitation at 11:00am in the church. Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond .

In lieu of flowers the family wishes all memorial donations be made to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at www. marybird.org in Carmelite's memory.
