Carolyn Ann Reed, of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at North Oaks Medical Center at the age of 75. She was born on August 5, 1942, in Husser, Louisiana the daughter of the late Elmer Otis Fortenberry and the late Isyl Etheline Ferrin Fortenberry. Carolyn earned a Master's Degree from the University of Mississippi, and worked as a librarian there until she retired.
Carolyn is survived by her son, James Eric Reed (Yayoi); daughter, Jessica Johnson (Mark); grandchildren, Sayaka Reed, Jade Dement, Brayson Johnson, Phoenix Reed, and Landon Johnson; sisters, Lanell Bruhl and Dell Barkurn (Norman); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Daws Reed; and brothers, E.O. Fortenberry Jr., Pat Fortenberry, and J.E. Fortenberry.
Friends and relatives will be received on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1503 Pecan St, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, from 1:00 pm until the Memorial Service begins at 2:30 pm.
Interment will follow in New Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery in Husser, Louisiana.
