Carolyn Ray, 78 years old of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at her daughter's home in Hammond. She was born on Wednesday, May 3, 1939, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Ernest A. Sr. and Aliwee Ray. Carolyn moved from Lafayette to Hammond to be closer to her daughter. She loved watching her grandson play High School Football, the theatre, her faith and music. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. 

Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth "Donna" Ponder and Deborah Ann Stevens and her husband John, her grandchildren, Brian Hall, Alicia Jamison and her husband Terry, Laura Granados and her husband Jose, John Ponder III and his wife Destiny, Jennifer Kern and her husband Greg and McKinley "Cruise" Dunn, 12 great grandchildren, her twin sister, Marilyn Ray and brother, Jimmy Ray, also many nieces, nephews and close friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest A. Sr. and Aliwee Ray, her son, John Lynn Ponder, Jr. and her brother, Ernest "Buddy" Ray, Jr.

 A Memorial Visitation for Carolyn will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Memorial Service Celebrating Carolyn's Life will start at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel.
