Ella Mae Cambre Melancon, age 95 of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Camelot Community Care. She was born on Saturday, April 5, 1924, in Baker, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Oscar Paul and Linda Guidry Cambre.

Mrs. Melancon was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church and the Kay Cee Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was a 1942 graduate of Ponchatoula High School. She was a loving wife, mother, and dedicated homemaker. She will be deeply missed.

Ella is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Larry and Gerline Melancon, Ronnie and Denise Melancon, and Wayne and Sharon Melancon; daughters & sons-in-law, Linda M. and Chuck Arceneaux, and Brenda M. and Marvin Allen; grandchildren, Michael Melancon, Robert Melancon, Amy Chen, Christy Mix, Stephanie Trosclair, Wesley Melancon, Jennifer Cook, Melissa Melancon, Darrin Verneuil, Greg Verneuil, and Faith Allen; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Milton J. Melancon; granddaughter, Mary Lynn Melancon; sisters, Thelma LeBlanc, Verlie Collier and Louise Peterson; brothers, Lloyd Cambre Sr., Eli Cambre, and William "Bill" Cambre.

Family and friends will be received at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at on Saturday, at 12:00 pm, with Fr. Paul McDuffie officiating.

Interment will follow the Ponchatoula Cemetery.
