Elroy Richard "Doug" Stromeyer Sr., 94 years old, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2017, in Hammond, Louisiana.
He was born on Monday, July 16, 1923, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Elroy was a Navy Veteran serving in World War II in the South Pacific. After serving his country, he worked for Delta Airlines as a Customer Relations Supervisor for 28 years.
Elroy is survived by two sons, Elroy R. Stromeyer, Jr. and his wife Paula and Roger C. Stromeyer and his wife Marcia; 7 grandchildren; Angela Stromeyer, Wesley Stromeyer Jr., Allan Stromeyer, Monica Wilson, Kyle Henry, Ross Henry and Jessica Perise; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and brother Fred Stromeyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Ita Stromeyer; wife, Gloria M. Stromeyer; son, Wesley Stromeyer Sr.; grandson, Roger Stromeyer Jr.; sister, Muriel "Mitsy" Durbin and brother, Melville Stromeyer.
Friends will be received Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 N. Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana.
Interment will follow in the Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.
