Gary Lee Cooper, Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and friend, went to his eternal home on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at the age of 76. He was born on Tuesday, March 4, 1941 in Robert, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving family: 4 children, Debbie Cooper, Donna Cooper Brent & her husband Jerry Brent, Denise Cooper Forbes & her husband John "Ed" Forbes, Gary Lee Cooper, Jr. & his wife Jeri Kunefke Cooper; 6 grandchildren, Jerry "J.J." Brent & wife Alison, Terri Brent Duvall & husband Kyle, Jessica Forbes, Fox Forbes, Ella Claire Cooper, and Josie Lee Cooper; 4 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kaden Duvall, Tayton "T.J." and Joy Lynn Brent; and his mother, Lura Edith Shelton Cooper.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Joy E. Carroll Cooper; as well as his father, Henry Charles Cooper.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Ceremony in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. The visitation will start at 10:00 am and continue until the service begins at 12:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Cooper Cemetery, Robert, Louisiana.
