Georgette Marie Martin McKean, age 89 of Ponchatoula, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017.  She was born on November 25, 1927 in New Orleans, the daughter of the late George Joseph Martin and the late Nola Jane Bouvier Martin.  Georgette was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula. She was also a  member of the Altar Society at St. Joseph as well  as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Georgette was a talented cake decorator and taught cake decorating at the Community Center in Ponchatoula. She was also a foster grandmother at Horizon House in Hammond. She will always be remembered for her big heart and spirit of giving.

Surviving are her 6 children, Oley A. McKean IV, Susan M. Smith, Wilkin J.M. McKean (Sharon), George A. McKean (Julie), Fred J. McKean (Stacey), and Pete D. McKean (Nancy); 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Oley A. McKean Sr.; her parents; and her brother, Wilkin Joseph Martin.

Friends will be received on Sunday, May 28, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 N. 8th St. in Ponchatoula. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Garden in Hammond.
