Gerald “Chick” John Rousseau, Sr., age 79, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018. A native of Paincourtville, La. and resident of Hammond, La, he was known for his quick-witted humor and ability to spin a tall tale.  

He relished in the company of others, enjoying great conversation, coffee and sharing his Cajun fare. A carpenter by trade, Chick loved working with his hands. Building, tinkering with automobiles, gardening and cooking were among his many interests. However, attending various charity car shows around the state with his 1970 Stingray, brought him the most joy.  He was a kind and generous person and a wonderful father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.

Chick leaves behind his adoring daughters, Laura Terrebonne and husband David, Kristi Rousseau and Jill Wicker; loving son, Gerald Rousseau Jr.; grandchildren, Eliana Terrebonne, Sammy Terrebonne, Emily Jones, Julian Rousseau, and Christian Rousseau; great granddaughter, Nova Rousseau; sisters Clarice Charlet and her husband Ronald, Joyce Theriot and her husband Robert and Marion Landry; brother Raymond Rousseau and his wife Marilyn. 

Preceding him in death are his parents, Jules Rousseau and Effie Leblanc Rousseau; brothers Buddy Rousseau and Donald Rousseau; and sister, Verdie Buckles. 

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 10:00 am until 12:00pm with prayers and reflections at 11:00 am at The Harbor Church in Hammond. Burial of his cremains will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church Cemetery in Paincourtville, Louisiana at a later time.
