Gloria Brown Parent passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 surrounded by her family, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 87. She was born on Friday, November 22, 1929 in Ponchatoula, Louisiana to the late Edith Laura Brown and Harvey Frank Brown, Sr.
Gloria had many hobbies which included working in her garden, sewing, playing bridge with her friends, going to church and singing in the choir. She was a former Wavette and graduate of Ponchatoula High School. She especially loved the holidays and spending time with her grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her beloved husband, Wallace Joseph Parent, Jr.; 2 daughters, Chezell (Wayne) King and Jayme M. Scallan; son, Gilbert (Debbie) Larpenter; 9 grandchildren, Vicki, Christie, Samantha, Donny, P.J., Matthew, Jimmy, Carly and Shea; 5 great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Jacqueline, Sophia, Nathaniel and Jase. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edith and Harvey Brown, Sr.; brother, Harvey Brown, Jr. and sister, Willie Brown Leblanc.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Ceremony in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00 am. Visitation starts at 9:00 am until the service begins at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow in Wetmore Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
