Harold Eugene Rogers, of Natalbany, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at North Oaks Medical Center at the age of 79. He was born on April 15, 1940, in Natalbany, Louisiana, the son of the late Alcess Arthur Rogers and Carmelite Baker Rogers.

Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Bailey Rogers; daughter, Lori Ray (Randy); grandchildren, Stacie, Zachary and Joshua Ray; sisters, Rita Bush, and Maxine Jenkins (Jim); special friends, Billie Jean and Oscar Lofton; sister-in-law, Sandra Bailey-Simmons; as well as many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Jake Bailey and Milton “Whitey” Bush.

Harold, “Pop-Pop” to his grandchildren, touched so many lives in the many ways he served his community and country. He graduated from Hammond High School and then attended Southeastern Louisiana University. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air National Guard. He retired in 2000 after 42 years of service as an E9 Chief Master Sergeant of the 236th Combat Community Squad of the Louisiana Air National Guard.

His love of sports started as a boy playing baseball then leading the Hammond High Tornadoes as their quarterback. As an adult he umpired baseball, refereed basketball for 44 years, refereed football for 46 years, worked as the clock operator for the SLU Lions basketball games, and served on the Chain Gang for the SLU Lions football.

He continued to give back to his community as an active volunteer at North Oaks Medical Center. He was Chairman of the deacons at Natalbany Baptist Church and worked as the church Administrator for over fifteen years.

Family and friends will be received at Natalbany Baptist Church, 48024 Parsonage Rd. Natalbany, Louisiana 70451, on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.

Services will be held at Natalbany Baptist Church, on Wednesday, at 12:00 pm.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Natalbany Baptist Church building fund, PO Box 99, Natalbany, LA 70451.

Interment will follow at Carter Cemetery in Springfield, Louisiana.
