James "Jim" A. McInnis Jr., 50 years old of Hammond, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 in Hammond. He was born on Wednesday, April 24, 1968, in Hammond, Louisiana to Jimmy and Pam McInnis. Jim was a communications officer for almost 30 years for the Hammond Police Department. They were like a second family to him and nicked named him "Squirrel". Jim enjoyed life and loved hunting, fishing and was a huge Astro's, Ranger's, LSU and Southeastern baseball fan, but he especially loved spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Pam McInnis, his sister, Dr. Carla McInnis Field and her husband Dr. Darryl Field, his niece, Madeline Field and his nephew, Tripp Field, also many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carl and Agnes Durbin, and his paternal grandparents, Cecil and Eula Lee McInnis.

A Visitation for Jim will be held on Wednesday, May  9, 2018 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.A Funeral Service Celebrating Jim's Life will immediately follow visitation at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond, Louisiana.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at North Oaks and Patient Acute Medical Hospital. Also, a thanks to Dr. Yurtha and a very special thank you to Dr. Tasheen Rab who was Jim's friend.
