Jerry Wayne Gardner passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017, at his residence in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 70.  He was born on Friday, December 27, 1946 in Shelbyville, Arkansas to the late Mary Florence Rose Gardner and the late Paul Shaver Gardner.  Jerry is a retired lieutenant colonel of the United States Army where he served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Afghanistan.

Jerry is survived by his loving family:  his wife, Kathryn Scruggs Gardner; daughters, Tennessee "Tennie" Paulette Wirchak and Jamie Gardner, and son, Vance Patrick Gardner; brother, Kenneth Gardner; and sister, Rosemary Lynne Gardner.  Also survived by numerous grandchildren, cousins, lifelong friends, and his golf buddies.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Florence Rose Gardner; father, Paul Shaver Gardner; brother, William Freddie Gardner; and sister, Betty Sue Gardner.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Jerry's Birthday, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.  Military Funeral Honors by American Legion Post 109, Independence, will be rendered at 7:00 pm.  

The Graveside Service will be held at Ward Cemetery in Strawberry, Arkansas, on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 2:00 pm.
