Joseph "Joe" J. Prescia Sr., 83 years old of Independence, Louisiana, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, September 25, 2016. He was born on Monday, October 3, 1932, in Independence, Louisiana to Jake and Mary Palermo Prescia. Joe enjoyed life and loved fishing, hunting, gardening, bowling, being outdoors but especially loved spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rosemarie Labate Prescia, his daughter, Victoria Dyer and her husband John, his son, Joseph Prescia, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, his grandchildren, Whitney, Moriah and Callie Prescia, Lucas Prescia and his wife Shelbie, Mallory McDonald and her husband Colby, and Tyler Olivia, his great grandchildren, Ellah, Stetson and Oaklie Prescia, his sisters, Congetta DiBuono, Josephine DiFulco and Elizabeth P. Rainey, also many nieces, nephews and close friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jake and Mary Palermo Prescia.
A Visitation for Joe will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond where a Rosary will be recited at 12noon. A Funeral
Service Celebrating Joe's life will follow the Rosary at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Colonial Cemetery Mausoleum in Independence.
