Joseph John Schiro, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at North Oaks Medical Center.  He was born on Wednesday, March 29, 1939, in New Orleans, to the late Joseph and Carrie Schiro.

He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School and Southeastern Louisiana University and a retired business owner of the Tic-Tock Shoppe in Hammond and an usher at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.  

He is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl Tallia Schiro; daughter, Gina Bankston; grandchildren, Joey Pellichino and Ashlan and Cristan Bankston; brothers, Gasper Schiro (Mel) and Michael Schiro, Sr.; nephews, Michael Schiro, Jr. (Nha) and sons, Julian and Jonah, and Matthew Schiro (Sarah).

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Sharon Boykin Schiro.

Visitation will be at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Blvd., Hammond on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 5:30pm until 8:30pm and on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 601 N. Oak Street, Hammond, from 9:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery.  

He holds a special place in each of out hearts and we will always love and miss him.
