A native of Natalbany and a longtime resident of Loranger, June Marie Parent Overmier was a caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She peacefully passed away at her home on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the age of 91.

She was born to Harry and Bell Parent on June 25, 1929. After graduating from Southeastern High School, June attended business school and got a job working for the Department of Veterans Affairs where she met husband, Gary. Together, they created a life they loved, and their union continues to flourish through their children and their families.

June used her God given talents as the secretary at Mater Dolorosa Catholic School and Loranger Elementary School for over three decades. Her presence there was deeply influential to so many. It was during these years she became the honorary grandmother to hundreds of school children and school staff alike. June loved traveling with her husband, spending time with her family, attending church, visiting with community friends, singing with her grandchildren, swimming in her pool, cooking delicious meals on Sundays, praying the rosary, shopping, and loving everyone she met as if they were her own. She was an unfaltering example of kindness, resilience, and a role model to all who knew her.

June is survived by her children, Mary Ann Anderson, Timothy and his wife Patricia, Patrick, Maria Ordoyne and her husband Kelly, Monica Good and her husband Louis, Daniel and his wife Donna, Harry and his wife Myra; 23 grandchildren and their spouses, 32 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren; siblings, Charlotte Bowlin, Bobby Parent, Paul Parent, Dickie Parent, and Sene Bordelon. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families who will cherish so many memories of her welcoming, compassionate spirit.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Gary Overmier; her parents, Harry and Belle Parent; siblings, Mickey Story, Kathryn Metz, Harry Parent Jr., Jody Parent, and Tom Parent; daughter-in-law Carol Overmier; grandchildren, Landon Farbe and Kelle Stevens.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 9:30am until 11:30am at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond, Louisiana. The Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Independence, Louisiana.

Interment will follow at Loranger Cemetery in Loranger, Louisiana.
