Katy Merle Walker Morgan slipped quietly into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 07,2019. She left this world surrounded by her family at the age of 78.
Katy was born to the late Landy C. and Lillie Kennedy Walker of Philipp, Mississippi on May 25,1941. Katy is a graduate of the West Tallahatchie High School class of 1959 in Webb, Mississippi where she excelled as a star basketball player and athlete.After high school, Katy attended Lee University in Cleveland,Tennessee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Morgan, daughter, Ruth Morgan, brothers, Lofton and Bob Walker and sister, Jackie Faye Walker Kyle.
Katy is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Morgan Smith, Lori Morgan, Wanda Morgan Lennon and husband Mike; sons, Jerry Morgan and wife Carmen, Landy Morgan and partner Marco Lemus, and Stephen Morgan; sisters, Maxine Malier and Lynda Steed; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Katy was a resident of Hammond, Louisiana and will be remembered for her unshakeable faith in God, her infectious laughter, witty sense of humor, and her fierce love for her children and grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm,at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond,Louisiana, 70401. A Graveside Service, officiated by Reverend Linnie Maples, will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville,Mississippi.
Interment will follow at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, Mississippi.
