Kenneth Matthew Schatzle passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, in Ponchatoula, LA, at the age of 70.  He was born on Sunday, January 11, 1948 to the late Lanny Hebert Schatzle and Robert Schatzle.  

Kenneth leaves behind his devoted wife of 46 years, Beverly Sicard Schatzle; daughter, Marcy Sonnier and husband Billy; son Kyle Schatzle and wife Brett; two greatly loved grandchildren, Kenley and Liam Sonnier; sister, Elaine Schatzle; brothers in law, Leonard Sicard and wife Lurlene, Donald Sicard and wife Loretta, Adrian Sicard and wife Linda, Daryl Sicard and wife Minta, Dennis Sicard and wife Sue, and Roland Sicard and wife Anita; sisters in law, Judy Maggiore and husband Gus, Earline Starns, Sena Sicard, and Gale Sicard; best friend of 30 years, Ronnie "Rock" Rocquin; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Lanny Hebert Schatzle and Robert Schatzle; mother and father in law, Marcie "Pop" and Mildred McLaughlin Sicard; brothers in law, Irvin Sicard, Rene Sicard, and Vernon Starns; and sister in law, Verna Landry.

Kenneth was a life long resident of Ponchatoula and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a 3rd degree Father Vander Heyden Knights of Columbus Council #4874 and past Grand Knight for a 2 year term. He was also a 4th degree Knights of Columbus Father Marten Assembly #323 for a 2 year term and past Faithful Navigator for a 2 year term. Kenneth served as a board member for 24 years and past treasurer for Ponchatoula Dixie Youth Baseball. He was also a board member for Ponchatoula Youth Basketball from 2005 until 2010. He served on the Strawberry Festival Board as a Ponchatoula Youth Baseball representative from 1995 until 2000 and again from 2008 until 2014.

Kenneth worked for the Bellsouth Company for 25 years until he became ill in 1990 which resulted in him needing and receiving a heart transplant in 1992. He was a Union Member of the Communications Workers of America Union Member for 25 years. He was co founder and past president of the Northlake Area Transplant Support Group.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 11:30 am. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula. Rosary will begin at 5:00 pm conducted by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will resume at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, August 20, 2018, from 9:30 am until 11:30 am.

Interment will follow in Wadesboro Catholic Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
