Lane Allen Gottschalck, age 3 of Hammond, Louisiana, gained his wings on Thursday afternoon, September 13, 2018 to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was surrounded by family and friends at his passing in New Orleans at Children's Hospital. He was born on Friday, May 8, 2015, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 

Lane was deeply loved by his parents, Chester and Whitney Rousseau Gottschalck; sister, Breanna Gottschalck, brother, Trevor Gottschalck; aunts and uncles, Randi Rousseau and Jonathan Serigne, Matthew Rousseau, Clay and Melanie Gottschalck, Craig and Rhonda Gottschalck; maternal grandparents, Cheryl Rousseau James and Darrell Rousseau;and paternal grandparents, Billy and Diane Gottschalck; many great-aunts, great-uncles,cousins, and friends. 

Lane is preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Keever James and Edith James McLendon and Andrew and Ruby Rousseau; paternal great grandparents, Theodore and Mearl Cooper and Elmer and Hermine Gottschalck. 

Lane was a sweet little boy who brought joy and happiness to every life he touched. Every day he was helping his mom and dad with the farm animals while riding on the ATV.  He loved listening to music, watching and listening to YouTube and playing video games with his brother Trevor.  Some evenings you could find Lane riding a sheep or a calf at the rodeo arena while under the watchful eye of his parents. 

Lane enjoyed the beach with his family and watching the ocean waves lap over his feet. He fought many battles in his short life and was a true fighter until the very end. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Visitation for Lane will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and continue Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Harry McKneely& Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service celebrating Lane's life will immediately follow visitation at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Stevens Cemetery in Tickfaw, Louisiana.
