Larry Joseph Jacob, Sr., 73, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 8, 2018.  He was born on September 12, 1944, in El Dorado, Arkansas and was a lifelong resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Larry was a Ponchatoula strawberry farmer from 1976 to 1997 as well as a timber man. He graduated from SLU with a degree in Plant Science and graduated from LSU with a degree in Forestry which led him to working with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, Batson Lumber Company and as an independent consultant. He worked in the forestry business for over 40 years. Larry is survived by Carol Dewhirst Jacob and five of their six children; Larry, Jr. (Sharry), Melissa Jacob Bourgeois (Johnny), Edward (Darlene), Janice Jacob Jones (Jason) and Susan Jacob; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Nell Jacob and his youngest son, Jeremiah “Bullfrog” Jacob.

Larry's daughter, Melissa, would like to express special thanks to the administrators and staff of Hammond Nursing Home and Landmark Nursing Home for taking special care of her father while in their hands.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely, Ponchatoula, on Tuesday, September 11th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and again on Wednesday, September 12th from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 10:00 AM. with interment to follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery.
