Laura Accomando Jones, a 92 year old Hammond native, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2017 near Bullard, Texas while living with her son’s family. She was one of six children to Salvadore “Sam” and Josephine Iverstine Accomando and was born on June 28, 1924. Laura loved spending time with her family.
Laura is survived by her son Glynn Jones and his wife Elizabeth Williams Jones; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Laura Jones and Rachel Jones; 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua, John and Sydney; sister, Rosie Accomando Trapen of Tickfaw; niece, Anna Accomando Bankston and her family from Loranger who maintained a very close relationship with Laura.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Josephine Accomando; husband, Joseph Martin Jones; son, Joseph Jones, Jr.; 3 brothers, Joseph Accomando, Emile Accomando and Johnny Accomando; and sister, Filippina Accomando.
A Graveside Service Celebrating Laura’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, 2:00pm at Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond.
