Lionel "David" Haydel passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017, in Hammond, Louisiana, at the age of 76.  He was born on Friday, September 20, 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Raynaldo Mae Cole Haydel and the late Lionel Junus Haydel.  He was a resident of Albany, Louisiana.  David managed K & B and Rite Aid Drug Stores for over 35 years.  He was an incredible father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to all who will be deeply missed.  

Lionel is survived by his daughter, Cheri Wittmer and her husband Ted; son, Richard "Ricky" Haydel and his wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Jessica "Peanut" Ott and her husband Eric, and Cheng Jain "David" Haydel; great-grandchildren, Calen and Emersyn Ott; dialysis friends; and his beloved dogs.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lionel Junus Haydel; mother, Raynaldo Mae Cole Haydel; and beloved wife, Elizabeth Tootsie Prokop Haydel.  

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd., Hammond, LA 70401, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Monday, August 14, 2017 at St. Margaret Queen of Scotland Catholic Church, 30300 Catholic Hall Road, Albany, Louisiana 70711, from 8:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am.  

Interment will follow in St. Margaret Catholic Church Cemetery.
