Lorene Bilbra Elkins, of Springfield, Louisiana, passed away at home with her beloved husband holding her hand on Monday, February 11, 2019, at the age of 91. She was born on October 13, 1927, in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late William Campbell Bilbra and the late Elizabeth Abernathy Bilbra.

Lorene is survived by her husband of 71 years, Claude K. Elkins, Jr.; daughters, Janice Lynne Keene and her husband Tommy, and Deborah Kirby and her husband Ed; son, Claude "Bud" K. Elkins, III and his wife Nancy; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; twin sister, Christine Tanksley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lorene was preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Hooper, Helen Fogarty, Edith Campbell, Madelyn Bonds; brothers, Wilburn Bilbra, William C. Bilbra, Jr., and William Percy Bilbra; as well as  mother & father-in-law, Mary Lucinda Elkins and Claude K. Elkins, Sr.

Family and friends will be received at First United Methodist Church Hammond, 2200 Rue Denise, Hammond, Louisiana 70403,  on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00 am.

Lorene will be laid to rest at Parklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Hammond, Louisiana at a later date.
