Mamie Ida Moore died Saturday August 25, 2018 at her home in Hammond. She was born February 12,1923 in Greensburg, LA. Mamie was the daughter of the late William Ellison and Mamie Yarborough Phillips. Because of the untimely death of her mother, she was reared by two aunts, Dora Phillips Carruth and her husband Ransom and Ethel Phillips. She was married to Benjamin Richard Moore, whom she had met while a student at SLU. After WWII the couple established a business on North Morrison. Mamie was herself an active partner in Moore’s Travel Trailers.

At the time of her death Mamie was an 85 year member of Days United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Halimah Chapter NSDAR and was an alumna of SLU.

Mamie is survived by nieces, Carolyn Phillips Bickham and Nancy McCart Bickham; nephews, William Ellison Phillips and Charles Adrian Phillips; a cousin Mina Jean Carruth Travis.

In addition to her husband, parents and aunts, she was preceded in death by siblings William Day Phillips, Ava Lea Moore, Minnie Dean Wales. She was also preceded in death by the cousins with whom she grew up:  William W. Carruth, Percy Carruth, Adrian Carruth, and Leona Carruth Butler.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home-Hammond, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00am. Visitation will be held on Saturday,  September 1, 2018 from 9:00am-11:00am. Interment will follow at GreenLawn Cemetery.
