Margaret "Dauphine" Gomez Wascom, 85 years old of Hammond passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, at Landmark Nursing Center. She was born on Monday, January 4, 1932, in Hammond to Sidney J. Sr. and Vera M. Gomez. Dauphine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hammond. She enjoyed life and loved to go down to the family camp on Bedico Creek, gardening, help raising her grandchildren, Antiques, the Silver Sneakers Exercise Class at the Ponchatoula Fitness Center and volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity Shop. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. 

Dauphine is survived by her daughter, Kandy Wascom Berner, her grandchildren, Megen Berner, Blair Wascom and Chad Wascom and his wife Angelica, her great granddaughter, Chloe Ann Wascom, her brothers, Wlifred "Lee" Gomez and his wife Verlie and Frank Gomez, also many nieces, nephews and close friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney J. Sr. and Vera M. Gomez, her husband, Edward "Dolly" Wascom, Sr., her son, Edward Wascom, Jr., her sisters, Velora Lipscomb and Juanita Carr, her brothers, Sidney Gomez, Jr., Lucius Gomez and Milton Gomez. 

A Visitation for Dauphine will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Dauphine's Life will immediately follow visitation at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum in Hammond. 

In lieu of flowers the family wishes all memorial donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 111 N. Pine St., Hammond, Louisiana in Dauphine's memory.
