Margie Johnson Short Edwards received her angel wings on Valentine's Day, Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the age of 90. She was born on May 9, 1927 in Tickfaw, Louisiana and was residing in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Margie was the glue that held her family together. She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything and enjoyed putting a smile on their faces. She was a strong and kind-hearted woman that truly never met a stranger. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, and sister that is already so very missed.
Margie is survived by her beloved family: her sons and their wives, John and Ginger Short and Gary and Kay Short; stepson, Howard Edwards, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Curtis Wittie; and her 7 loving grandchildren and 17 precious great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by husband, Howard Edwards, Sr.; parents, Izetta Joiner Johnson and Ernest E. Johnson; brother, Cleo Johnson; sisters, Dorothy Johnson Lagarde (Edwin) and Ernestine Johnson Ward (Douglas); and her first husband, Jimmie Short.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service in the chapel of Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Blvd., Hammond, Louisiana on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
Interment will follow in Lanier Cemetery, Loranger, Louisiana.
