The Villegas Family profoundly announce the passing of our beloved sister, Maria T.V. Robinson on Monday, January 6, 2020 at the age of 84. She was born on January 19, 1935 in the Philippines to the late Amando V. Villegas Sr. and Magdelena Cruz Villegas.
Maria was a tremendous motivator and inspiration for the whole family. She mentored her siblings through their schooling while studying and working in the BIR Auditing Unit in Manila. As a big proponent of education, she achieved a Law Degree from the University of Santo Thomas of Manila Philippines. Maria was selected and served as one of the Delegate Representatives of the Philippine Tobacco Board for the New York's World Fair 1964-1965. In the 1970's, she moved to the Bronx, New York where she worked as a teacher at St. Pius V High School and held an administrative position at the Lucille Murray Child Development Center. In 1980, when she married the love of her life, James Robinson, and moved to Ponchatoula, La. Maria left her city life and embraced her new community. She loved art, gardening and traveling. As a devoted Catholic, she served as active member of her parish, St. Joseph in Ponchatoula. Maria, also known as "Tarcy" was very passionate about her family. She cared for them and provide for them, the best she knew how. Her presence will be truly missed by her relatives and friends. Eternal rest grant unto her. Amen.
Maria is survived by her siblings Julieta Villegas, Bibiana V. Madrid and Amando Villegas, Jr.; as well as her beloved brother-in-law Gene Madrid, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, step son, and step daughters.
In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in death by her husband, James Robinson; and siblings, Fely Santos, Philippe Villegas, and Leon Villegas.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd. Hammond, Louisiana 70401, on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 600 N. Oak St. Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
Funeral Mass will be held after the visitation at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Friday.
Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
