Marie Deliberto Smith, 78, of Hammond, LA went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 26, 2017. She was born on January 15, 1939. Marie attended Holy Ghost Catholic School graduated from Hammond High School, and continued on to receive a degree in the art of ballet.
Marie and her beloved daughter were the proud of owners of Marie and Kathy's School of Dance. She treasured the decades she spent teaching her beloved students.
Marie was married to Tom Smith, they were happily married for eleven years.
Marie is survived by her father, William "Bill" Markham, her devoted husband Tom Smith, her loving daughter, Kathy Rogers Benge and husband Pete Benge, her son Gab Smith, two granddaughters, Alonna Marie Benge Forrest and her husband Alex and Shayla Juliette Benge Johnson and her husband Whit. She is also survived by her great grandson, Grant Edward Forrest. Marie is preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Costanza Markham.
A Visitation for Marie will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 10:00am – 12:00pm at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Marie’s Life will immediately follow at 12:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Rodney Taylor of Natalbany Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery in Hammond.
