Laurecia "Laurie" Crayton Sherman, 78 years old, died at North Oaks Hospital on October 7, 2019. She was born in Hammond, Louisiana, and lived in Albany.

She was a lifetime Louisiana Notary and the best automobile title clerk in the state, many of her customers said. She started working with car dealerships and automobile titles in the early 1960s and worked until a week before her death. In addition, she was a quilt maker and liked to garden. She was a kind person and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Laurie is survived by her loving family; her son, Dayne Sherman and wife Kristy, and their son Nate; daughter, Melissa Sherman and her two daughters Parker Stewart and Tristen Bankston and husband Corey, and their daughter Kynzie; brothers Rona Crayton, Rufus Crayton, Jr., Dennis Crayton (Patricia Mitchell Crayton); sisters Dorothy Crayton Milton, Dorcas Crayton Perrin, Patricia Crayton Soape (Burleigh Soape), Connie Sue Crayton, and sister-in-law Elaine, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronnie Sherman, her father Rufus Crayton, Sr., mother, Lillie Mary Everett Crayton, and brother Rubin Crayton.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the memorial service begins at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. Interment to follow at Gatlin Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Dr. Randy Davis. Friends and relatives are invited to attend.
