Mettie Marie Rider Copes, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 6, 2017, in Loranger, Louisiana, at the age of 66.  She was born on Sunday, November 19, 1950, in Epps, Louisiana to the late Mary Marie Brewer Rider and the late Daniel Boone Rider.  She was a resident of Loranger.

Mettie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Francis G. Copes, III, three daughters, Jamie Robertson and her husband Albert of Tickfaw, Kimberly Burton of Loranger, and Amy White and her husband Terry of Tickfaw, six grandchildren, Olivia, Nicholas and Spencer Robertson, Elizabeth Callais, Hannah Burton, and Gritten White, two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Joseph Clement, two sisters, Louise Rider of Garden City, NY and Margaret Rider of Russellville, AR, four brothers, Rev. Douglas  Rider and his wife Sandy of Denham Springs, LA, Charles Rider of Shady Point, OK, George Rider and his wife Pam of Gilmer, TX, and Jimmy Rider of Columbus, MS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Garland Rider, Eugene Rider, Benjamin Rider, and James Daniel "JD" Rider, and one sister, Juanita Rider.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 11:00 am with Rev. Ivy Ellis officiating.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, from 9:00 am until service time.

Interment will follow in  New Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Baptist, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be George Rider, Jimmy Rider, Albert Robertson, Terry White, Nicholas Robertson and Spencer Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Rider, Charles Rider, Marcus Clement and Gritten White.
