Pastor Billie Ray Kennedy, 84 years old of Springfield, Louisiana passed peacefully away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 21, 1934 to Jess and Allie Kennedy, in Springfield, Louisiana. Bro. Billie loved sharing the Gospel with people as well as hunting, fishing and gardening.

Pastor Billie is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene Richardson Kennedy, six children: Laurie (Tom) McCann; Donna (Phyllis Picard-Staton) Kennedy, Mark (Kim Portier) Kennedy, Brenda (Rick) Thielen, James (Jackie) Kennedy, Dan (Amy) Kennedy, his grandchildren Clint McCann, Craig, Amanda, Jesse Kennedy, Kourtney Decota, Rebecca Mueller, Stacey Thielen, Damon Kennedy, Veronica Vaclavicek, Chloe Kennedy, Andrew and Joshua Kennedy and 7 great grandchildren. Billie and Irene never met anyone who they did not consider family. They have an extended family of many children which they kept through the years.

Pastor Billie is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Allie Kennedy, two brothers J.C. and Tommy Kennedy and one sister, Shirley Coon.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Springfield community for all the love, prayers and food provided. We are also grateful for the compassion of Hospice In His Care.

Friends will be received Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home -  Ponchatoula. Visitation will also be at the Blood River Church of God, on Thursday from 9:00a.m.until services.

Services will be held at The Blood River Church of God on Thursday at 11:00a.m. Thursday with Rev. John Wincepaw officiating.

Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery.
