Roger Wayne Fernandez, 78 years old of Loranger, Louisiana, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was born on September 10, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Sylvester and Edolia Istre Fernandez. Roger was actively involved with his church family at Oak Grove Church of Christ and spent most of his time with youth activities when he was younger. He enjoyed life and loved jogging and all kinds of sports, but he especially loved spending time with his grandkids and family. Roger was a beloved and cherished husband, father and grandfather
Roger is survived by his daughters, Laura Fernandez Saucier and her husband Dwayne of Cottonport, Louisiana and Julie Fernandez Mayeux and her husband Jeff of Loranger, Louisiana, his grandchildren, Brandon, Lee, Lauren, Holly, Amber, Joel and Jennifer, his sister, Anna Thomas, also many beloved nieces, nephews and close friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Edolia Istre Fernandez and his wife Rachel Winnett Fernandez.
A Visitation for Roger will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. A Funeral Service Celebrating Roger's Life will immediately follow visitation at 12:00pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Loranger Community Cemetery in Loranger.
