Martin, Ruby Estelle Parker Burns

Ruby was born April 15, 1932 in Ponchatoula, LA to the late Benjamin and Irene Corbin Parker and passed away February 23, 2021 in Hammond, LA with her daughter by her side at the age of 88.  

She was a retired secretary for State National Life Insurance Company in Hammond, and enjoyed working in her yard, cooking, being around the water and anything outdoors.  

Ruby is survived by her children, Gary Burns (Sandra), Jim Burns (Darlene Duczer), Ben Burns, Jeffrey Burns (Suzanne), Sandy Burns Redeker (Daryl), Cathy Burns Farrar, Laura Martin, and Rose Martin McCon (Jeffery); siblings, George Parker, Nelda Parker Dendinger, Louella Parker Davis, Daunice Parker, and Gail Parker Gowland; grandchildren, Adam Burns, Allison Burns, Shelbie Jones, Whitney Jones Haddad (Wadi), Courtney Jones, Aaron Farrar, Parker Redeker, and Destin Redeker; great grandson, Wesley Haddad; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Ann Burns; husband, James Eugene Burns, Jr.; and siblings, Harold Parker, Walter Parker, and Jean Parker Garaudy.  

A special thanks to the staff at Landmark Nursing Center for their love and care and to the staff of Life Source Hospice.  

Visitation will be Friday, February 26, 2021, at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Ponchatoula from 12 noon until religious services at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel conducted by Rev. Dr. Dustin Stockstill.  Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery.
