Samuel "Sammy" Genco passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018, in Mandeville, Louisiana, at the age of 84.  He was born on Friday, October 20, 1933 in Amite, Louisiana to the late Rose Balisteri Genco and the late Leonard Genco.  He was a resident of Metairie, Louisiana.  Sammy had 29 years of faithful service as a teacher, principal, Director of Elementary Education, Director of Instruction- West Bank Region, Personnel Supervisor, and Director of Transportation.  He was an incredible father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend to all who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, JoAnn LaMarca Genco; daughter, Gianna Troncoso and her husband Kenny; son, Randy Genco and his fiancé Jeanne Dauterive; grandchildren, Ryan Samuel Genco, Theresa Ann Hart and her husband Reed, Samantha Troncoso, and Alex Troncoso; brother, Tank Genco and his wife Nedra; and sister, Catherine Genco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Genco and Rose Balisteri Genco; and son, Sammy L. Genco, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 609 3rd St., Independence, Louisiana 70443, on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 beginning at 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in Colonial Mausoleum.
