Sharon Ann Yarbrough Suggs, 70 years old, departed this earth and gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was born on July 1, 1947 in Hammond, LA. Her parents were James A. Yarbrough and Jaunita M. Keller Yarbrough, who preceded her in death.
Growing up in a military family, Sharon had the opportunity to travel and live in various places, such as Alaska, England, Virginia, Texas, and Louisiana. During her married life, she lived in Oklahoma, Ohio, Kentucky, and Louisiana, but her roots were firmly grounded in Ponchatoula, LA, where she resided at the time of her death. She graduated from Ponchatoula High School, Class of 1965. She subsequently graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University, Hammond, LA. She worked for several years at the former Southeast Louisiana State Hospital, Mandeville, LA, where she was employed in the Occupational Therapy Department on the Adolescent Unit.
She was formerly married to Bobby Suggs, who preceded her in death.
Sharon is survived by three sisters and one brother: Susan Y. Yates (Bill), Wichita, Falls, TX; Jan Y. Chamberlin (Marshall), Willow Park, TX; Kim Di Iulio (Tom), Parker, CO; and James K. “Jimmy” Yarbrough, Lakewood, CO. She is also survived by her maternal uncle, Elwood Keller, Ponchatoula, LA, along with her beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends. She also leaves behind her cherished pet feline, Hazel Rose.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home,100 West Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, LA. Visitation will continue on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at the Ponchatoula Cemetery.
