Shelby Tyler Payne, age 28 of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at his residence. He was born on Thursday, June 27, 1991, in Houston, Texas.

Shelby was an outdoorsman who loved sports, hunting and fishing. He was the kind of man who was rough on the outside but kind and gentle on the inside. He was a devoted dad who cherished every moment with his son Brayden. All of Shelby's family was very important to him, but he shared an especially close relationship with his mom. He has even been referred to as a "momma's boy" by some. But if a difficult situation arose, it was dad that he would turn to. He knew he could depend on him to speak truth into his life and help him out. Shelby touched many lives and will be sadly missed.

Shelby is survived by his parents, Robert P. and Robin Amacker Payne, son, Brayden Tyler Payne, brothers, Morgan and Nicolas Payne, his longtime girlfriend, Jayme Latino, grandmothers, Eva Schum, and Lynn Sawyer James, and grandfather, Bobby Amacker.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Herbert G. Payne and Lenny Ray James, great-grandparents, Marion Herbert and Virginia H. Payne, Paul J. and Nell P. Sawyer, Edward J. and Betty Ruth Amacker, and LeRoy and Lola R. Mollison.
