Vera Hebert Ragan, of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away at her residence on Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the age of 85. She was born on Friday, September 14, 1934, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Cecil and Clara "Tootsie" R. Hebert.

Mrs. Ragan was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula. She was well known for her cakes which have been enjoyed by many generation of families. She loved sports and especially watching her family play. Her voice could be heard well above the crowds cheering them on. She enjoyed cooking and feeding people, whether it was for Thanksgiving and Christmas or for the many South Central Bell employees that ate at her house for 12 o'clock dinners. Vera also enjoyed flowers, planting them and watching them grow.

Vera is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Cheryl and Russell Hoover, Sheila Ragan, Mary and Russell Johnson, sons & daughters-in-law, Jody and Sherrie Ragan, Jeffrey and Dana Ragan, daughter-in-law, Madelyn Ragan, son-in-law, Robert Blanton, grandchildren, Tara Ragan, Troy Ragan, Russell Hoover II, Dayna Ledet, Jason Ragan, Ashley Beauchamp, Trevor Ragan,  Tabatha Graves, Tanya Klossner, Leighanna Preston, Steve Johnson, Savanna Ragan, Kayla Ragan, Landyn Ragan, and Lake Ragan;  20 great-grandchildren, sisters, Estelle Beauchamp, Bonnie Brooks, and brothers, Thomas Hebert, and Albert Hebert. The family would like to give a special thanks to her niece, Karen Kraft, for her many hours of personal care for Mrs. Vera.

She was preceded in death by husband, Stanley "Hickey" Ragan, son, Stanley P. Ragan, daughter, Cathleen "Susie" Blanton, grandson-in-law, Logan Klossner, brothers, Cecil J. Hebert,  Douglas Hebert, and sisters, Goldie Hebert, and Connie Garaudy.

Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in  Ponchatoula, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home on Monday, June 29, 2020 from 8:00 am until 10:00 am.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Monday at 10:00 am, with Deacon Larry Melancon officiating.

Interment will follow at Ponchatoula Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
