Verla Mae Lachney passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 80. She was born on Monday, December 25, 1939 in Chataignier, Louisiana to the late Eva West and the late Armond Johnson. She was a resident of Tickfaw, Louisiana.
Verla is survived by her daughter, Christine Lachney McGee; sons, Chris Gerald Lachney and Michael Ray Lachney; grandchildren, Jonathan McGee, Justin Lachney, Jason Honaker, Amanda Lachney, Michael Lachney, Jr., Victoria Lachney, Donald "Jojo" Joseph Lachney, and Dawn Lachney, and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Verla is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Joseph Lachney, Sr.; son, Donald Joseph Lachney, Jr.; sisters, Mary Jane Johnson and Margie Davis Johnson; uncles, Carl Johnson, Curly Johnson, and Pleanne Johnson; and aunts, Marilyn Johnson and Nannamaus Johnson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home, 2000 N Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, beginning at 4:00 PM until the funeral service begins at 8:00 PM.
