WayneJack Vicknair passed away peacefully at home in Hammond, Louisiana on Thursday,November 26, 2020, at the age of 78. He was born on September 14, 1942 inLutcher, Louisiana to the late Elma and Noe T. Vicknair.

Wayne was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 2952 and a 4thDegree member of Assembly No. 323. He was a Eucharistic Minister at Holy GhostCatholic Church in Hammond, Louisiana, not only participating in church massesbut also giving communion to the shut-in and the sick weekly. He loved sayingthe Rosary at the Hammond Nursing Home and giving communion at all the localnursing homes. Wayne lived andbreathed the SLU Lions. He played football there for four years and wasthe recipient of the 2015 Lion for Life Award. He was an avid longdistance runner, having run 37 marathons, including the New YorkMarathon. 


Wayne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Parish Vicknair; children,Vikki V. Chauvin (Tommy), Parish Vicknair (Julie Rossie), Dwayne Vicknair(Mikki Stephens); grandchildren, Claire Chauvin, Madison Vicknair, BrantleyVicknair, Bobbi Amar, and Parker Amar; brother, Gerald Vicknair (Leona); andnumerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was also preceded in death by his daughter,Paige V. Hairston; brothers, Norris, Lester, Wilton, Roland, Harry, Larry,Harold, Leroy, Jesse, Bro. Hubert, Clerfet, Milton, Herman and Noe"Tim" Jr.; and sisters Noella V. Lambert, Geraldine Vicknair andBrenda V. Braud.

There will be a rosary on Monday, November 30, 2020, at 10:30 AM at Holy GhostCatholic Church, 600 N Oak Street, Hammond, Louisiana 70401, followed by Massat 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery, Hammond, Louisiana.

Donations may be made to Lion Athletics Association (Football) or to theAlzheimer’s Association. The family would also like to thank Wayne's manycaregivers.
