Zora Bernice Garrett Marshall, 95 years old of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was born on Sunday, July 8, 1923, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Charles Reed and Zaidee Bernice Latimer Garrett. Zora was the 1957 Flying Mile Ladies Class Champion at the Powder Puff's Drag Racing event in Daytona Beach, Florida with a top speed of 135.7 mph. She enjoyed life and loved to play bridge and has a certificate stating she's a Master Bridge Player. Zora also loved to ballroom and square dance, but she especially loved to spend time with and spoil her grandkids and family. 

Zora is survived by her sons, Butch Marshall and his wife Beverly and Joey Marshall and his wife Mandy, her grandchildren, Angela Francalancia and her husband Tony, Garrett Marshall and his wife Mary - Claire, Maggie Nelson and her husband Jesse and Maria Murphy and her husband Patrick, her great grandchildren, Chess Marshall, Lillie Nelson, Evelyn Nelson and Joseph Marshall III, many nieces, nephews and close friends.

 Zora is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Reed and Zaidee Bernice Latimer Garrett, her husband, Francis C. Marshall, her son, James Brett Marshall and her brother, Father Latimer Garrett. 

A Visitation for Zora will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm where a Memorial Service Celebrating Zora's Life will start at 5:30pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond.
