Charlene "Gail" Bevere, age 70, of Tickfaw, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. She was born on Friday, September 1, 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Charles Edward Bennett and Charlene Jones Mandella. Gail was a legal secretary for attorney Ron Macaluso for many years and became close friends with Ron and his wife Pat. Gail enjoyed life and loved reading, going to casinos on the gulf coast, but she especially loved visiting and spending time with her daughter and son in law in Savannah, Georgia.
Gail is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Larry Bevere, her daughter, Dr. Melanie Bevere and her husband James "Gunner" Hall, her mother, Charlene Jones Mandella, her brothers, Reggie Bennett and his wife Rose, Dennis Bennett, Charlie Bennett and Timmy Bennett, her sisters, Mary Alice "Micky" Bennett, Frances Billiot, Lisa Johnson and Henrietta Palmisano, and her sister in laws, Joann Tucker and Rosemary Mizell, also, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, Charles Edward Bennett, her brother, Scotty Lee Bennett, and her grandmothers, Ella Bennett Sitman and Eva Jones.
Gail fought a 7-year battle with colon cancer and her wishes were to encourage everyone to schedule a screening colonoscopy for this very preventable disease.
