Delton Brooks passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020, in Covington, Louisiana, at the age of 83. He was born on Monday, January 25, 1937 in Pine, Louisiana to the late Edrena and John Brooks. He was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Delton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie Hebert Brooks; children, Carol Moll (Scotty), Karen Kraft (David), and Delton "Kelly" Brooks (Nikki); grandchildren, Brittany Fornea, Bradley Fornea (Sierra), Bryan Fornea, Phillip Kraft (Katie), Ciara Kraft Tucker (Ryan), and Kandi Nunn (Cody); great-grandchildren, Skyler Fornea, Madisyn Fornea, Brinley Fornea, Brazley Fornea, Layne Fornea, Noah Kraft, Rustyn Nunn, and Austyn Nunn; sister, Arline McCain; adopted son, Sammy Mearridy; God-child, Dayna Hoover Ledet; sisters-in-law, Louise Brooks, Alice Brooks, Estelle Beauchamp, and Eugenia "Sis" LeSaicherre; brothers-in-law, Thomas Hebert and Albert Hebert (Barbara); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Brooks; mother, Edrena Gerald Brooks; brothers, Alcus Brooks, Huey Brooks, Bobby Brooks, Hollis Brooks, Dirby Brooks, and Kirby Brooks; sister, Jerline Day; father- and mother-in-law, Cecil R. and Clara "Toostsie" Hebert.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on October 25, 2020, at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, beginning at 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The visitation will continue the following day, on October 26, 2020, beginning at 8:30 AM until 10:30 AM. A funeral mass will follow the visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula, 255 N 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Ponchatoula Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude, or to St. Joseph Catholic Church for masses at the church.
