Dorothy Marie Whitaker passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, at the age of 56. She was born on Tuesday, January 11, 1966 in Jackson, Mississippi to Mary Demers Sanmarco and Stan Sherwood. She was a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Whitaker; mother, Mary Sanmarco; father, Stan Sherwood; sons, Jonathan Whitaker, Justin Whitaker and his wife, Samantha, and Jason Whitaker; grandchildren, Asher Whitaker and Emery Whitaker; and siblings, Kathy Sherwood, Cindy Sherwood, Evelyn Sherwood, Steven Sherwood, and Andy Sherwood.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Melissa Sherwood; and her step-father, Joe Sanmarco.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Harry McKneely and Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula, 100 W Magnolia Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. A funeral mass will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 255 North 8th Street, Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow in Rosaryville Cemetery, Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
