Ramona "Mona" Risi Dumas, 66 years old of Holden,Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018, with her family by her side.She was born on February 13, 1952, in Millville, New Jersey to George Risi, Sr.and Eugenia Vit Risi. After graduating from nursing school in Georgia, she moved to Louisiana to be closer to family. In a nursing career that spanned 4 decades, she was involved in everything from hospice to caring for newborns and their mothers. In 1995, while taking canoeing lessons she met Tom, the love of her life. They spent 22 years of their lives together, sharing a love of laughter, the outdoors, and animals (especially her cats). Together they developed deep relationships with family and an extended circle of friends. Mona was a caring soul who never had a cross word to say about anyone. She will be deeply missed.
Mona is survived by her loving husband, Thomas “Tom” Dumas,her brother, George Risi, Jr. and his wife Willa Craig, her sisters, Pamela and Addie Anne Risi, her brother-in-law, David Dumas, Sr. and his wife Ann, her sisters-in-law, Donna Dumas Oster and her husband Kenny and Mary Beth Dumas, her nephews, Milan Risi and David Dumas, Jr. and his wife Melissa and her niece, Caitlin Masson. She is also survived by a great-niece, a great-nephew and many close friends.
Mona is preceded in death by her parents, George Risi,Sr. and Eugenia Vit Risi, and her nephew, Adam L. Oster.
Family, friends, and co-workers are invited to the visitation and memorial service. The visitation for Mona is on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond. The memorial service celebrating Mona's life will immediately follow visitation at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
