Willie Simmons Joseph, 78 of Hammond, Louisiana passed from this earth on Monday, April 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Willie was born November 12, 1942 in Tylertown, Mississippi to Willis and Alyne Simmons. She was an educator by profession after having taught in both Mississippi and Louisiana. Her passion for teaching continued long after retirement as she tutored many elementary students in the community. She made a loving home for her husband, children, and grandchildren in Hammond, Louisiana. Despite the many hours she dedicated to being an educator, she still found time to engage in her other passions which were gardening, cooking, and baking.

Willie is survived by her son Freddie (Connie) Joseph of Hernando, Mississippi and daughter Dawn (Carl) Anderson of Hammond, four cherished grandchildren Erin (Landon) Finney, Easton Joseph, Carli Anderson, Tanner Anderson, and two sisters Patricia Simmons Mason and Jane Simmons Nassauer.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred Freddie Joseph, Jr.; and her parents, Willis and Alyne Simmons.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff of St. Tammany Hospice for their dedication and compassion.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 9:00 am until the Funeral Service begins at 11:00 am at Harry McKneely Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401. The service will be officiated by Father Cayet J. Mangiaracina  O.P. of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum.
